Thank you for slowly dwindling away. If it wasn’t for your carotenoids and anthocyanins the hills wouldn’t fizzle with such bright yellows and reds. It was a treat to behold once again.

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to take a trip to the mountains of Vermont. I spent two days absorbing the the colors of autumn. Our friend Amy whisked us away to the land of Bennington, VT. We trekked the woods and kept warm by the wood stoves in the family cabin. It was an amazing time, filled with riveting family gatherings and delicious home cooked meals.

Sketches of Vermont landscapeIt was quite an escape from the hype of the city. The intense contrast of urban to rural living really shocked me. I realize now, that a suburban lifestyle is just the right amount of human interaction and personal isolation that I’d like in my life. Just an observation I’ve made about myself. I like the hustle of the city, and I enjoy the peace of the hills, but I’m most happy when I can have a bit of both. As a mid-year-resolution, I plot to take road trips more frequently. It has proved a very healthy aspect of enjoying myself.
